We had a super fun adventure at Cold Creek Nurseries today. They have really cool stuff there! They have all sorts of garden tools, fun lawn ornaments, decorative items, houses and feeders for our bird friends, and just about every plant you can imagine. Pip: Hey, check out this cool Venus Fly Trap! Do you know they actually eat… Continue reading My What Big Teeth You Have!
I know this looks like a hand and a foot but it is actually a Prickly Pear! Tortoises love them. Actually, people can eat them too. Um, I say we save that adventure for another day!
We went on a hike looking for Tortoises. Gopher Tortoises to be exact. But we didn’t see any. On further research we discovered why we didn’t see any. Tortoises can’t swim!! They rarely drink water because they get their water through plants. They make their homes by burrowing underground. It was hot out so they were probably all hanging… Continue reading Looking for Tortoises
Flower Power! Having a little fun with the flower we found. It looks more like a house for LB then a hat. A bit better fit for Basil, but he can’t see where he is going. Now my turn. How do I look?
Such a beautiful find! What shall we do with it? Any ideas? Although, wait… I think I have one!
What a fun trip! Dahlonega, Georgia is a great place to visit. We truly enjoyed ourselves. With so many things to see and do, there are treasures abound in them thar hills!
Yep, I was right. LB and Basil were panning for gold, being gold miners. So of course I wanted to try it too. It was fun, and not to mention – we were successful!
Since we are in the hills of gold, we wanted to check out the Consolidated Gold Mines. Defiantly a cool experience. There is so much rich history to be told by the Tour Guide. Although, I admit I had to overcome my nervousness about going under ground. Notice LB and Basil opted out of the tour. I bet they are up top panning for… Continue reading Gold Mine
So this is where the quote, ‘Thar’s gold in them thar hills’, all started! Interestingly, the first gold rush was actually in North Carolina and Northern Georgia, not California. The story states that in an attempt to keep miners in Georgia, Dr. Matthew Fleming Stephenson stated, “There is more gold in these hills.” But it didn’t work.… Continue reading Gold In Them Thar Hills?
Check out the Koi fish! Are they really coy or just acting that way because they think we will feed them?
